None more so than the needs of anglers in the northern states, chasing barramundi and other tropical sportfish on baitcaster tackle. Daiwa’s TATULA range has taken the market by storm with the perfect blend of line capacity, performance & value.
TATULION is an evolution, elevating performance to another level with the introduction of a waterproof carbon ATD Drag system inside a 200-size capacity baitcaster reel for the first time.
The 200-size line capacity demanded by many anglers allows the use of heavy braided line and plenty of it. The Carbon ATD drag equipped in TATULION is water sealed, with a rubber gasket lining the top of the stack helping to keep water out, which ultimately means a more durable and longer-lasting drag performance. TATULION’s drag also features an audible click, a feature long used in flagship Daiwa baitcast reels such as Steez and Morethan. The audible drag click ensures anglers know exactly what’s going on, allowing them to adjust their fight to ultimately land more fish.
TATULION features an aluminium gear side plate, which allows the use of the carbon ATD drag by giving Daiwa engineers more room inside the side plate to equip the slightly thicker drag stack. A host of other improvements can be seen in TATULION, such as an aluminium long-arm drag star and EVA handle knobs, making it not only easier to adjust drag on the fly mid-fight, but also improving overall grip and comfort of the reel while in use.
SLX DC
The SLX DC utilizes Shimano’s Digital Control (DC) braking system as the star element of this reel. The SLX DC offers four adjustable settings that enables anglers to fish a wide variety of lures of different shapes and sizes, in all weather conditions. The newest SLX will also feature the Hagane Body which helps to ensure that the reel is extremely rigid and durable, meaning that all movement results in smooth, yet strong cranking power. With a 48mm Throw Handle across three right and one HG left hand model options, featuring gear ratios of 6.3:1, 7.2:1 (HG) and 8.2:1 (XG), this means that the slow and methodical lure worker and those who likes a bit of speed will be even more impressed with the new DC series.
Vanford
The all new Vanford is designed to become the ultimate finesse fishing reel with a super-fast start up. Replacing the iconic Stradic Ci4+, this reel is equipped with a range of technology upgrades that sets the Vanford apart. Still drawing upon a lightweight Ci4+ body construction, the new MGL rotor makes the reel 48% lighter to turn when compared to a standard rotor design. Micromodule Gear II and Silent Drive is featured in the new Vanford and the Hagane Gear has been upgraded for added strength. X-Protect provides high-level water resistance without sacrificing light gear and rotor rotation. This has increased the durability of the Vanford’s roller clutch and line roller to an IPX8 standard. The Chibitarel is fast becoming a go to lure for Murray Cod and Barra fisherman. It’s natural swimming action and ability to turn backwards on itself when softly twitched is irresistible to big cod and barra. This lure is ideal when chasing highly pressured fish in clear water or when the fish wont commit to striking larger swim baits. With a combination of both realistic colours and contrasting colours there is a Chibitarel to suit any situation.
Adding a chin weight can send the Chibitarel to any depth you wish. A high rod tip retrieve will have it waking the surface and a low tip will allow the lure to swim down to a meter.
